Shockwave therapy applied to a patient’s neck and shoulder

Services

Shock Wave Therapy

Abrupt, high-amplitude pulses of mechanical energy — similar to sound waves — generated by an electromagnetic coil and delivered precisely to the painful area.

How it works

A modern, highly effective treatment method

A treatment used in physiotherapy, orthopaedics, urology, and cardiology. The shockwaves are abrupt, high amplitude pulses of mechanical energy, similar to soundwaves, generated by an electromagnetic coil.

ECSWT can be used to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, in particular those involving where major connective tissues attach to bone. Common sites for ESWT include areas where complaints involve the attachment of tendons and ligaments onto major joints.

ESWT has also been proposed to aid in bone healing including stress fractures, avascular necrosis, slow healing bone (delayed unions), and non-healing bone (non-unions). There are numerous benefits of ECSWT and it offers a non-surgical option for treatment of some conditions. ECSWT is generally well tolerated, is easy to use, and is affordable and covered by some insurance companies.
